Karen has been experiencing CB issues for some time. To correct that, we picked up a Uniden 68XL, and she decided she preferred to move it to above, near the top, rather than maintain the dash-mount she had.
So this weekend, she brought me her Gracie (a LWB TJ, to most of us...), I picked up some 1/2" square tubing, from which to fab a bracket for her, and we had a little fun. When almost finished, she talked about how nice it would be to have someplace to store maps, and similar "papers", so I rummaged around and found a piece of screening, which should fit the bill. The rack is fitted/attached to the fore-aft sport bars with hose clamps, and the "map-pocket" is attached to the rack with tie-straps... ![]() ![]() ![]()

Very nice work! I would highly recommend wrapping every edge with some kind of insulating pipe foam or the like. From my experience, if I could possibly bang my head on it I will.

Thanks D. I tired to keep it up above the sport bar height, and shaped to closely match the top for that very reason. It clears the hardtop ~ 1.25 inches, but I'm guessing the first time Karen gets a knot on her noggin she'll be most happy to heed your warning and sage advice...
