Default lake pleasant day/movie night
A group of us (mostly pinz onwers) are going to Lake Pleasant June 16th for an annual lake and movie night outing. We will be on the north side of the lake. I can get google earth image if anyone is interested in coming up. We just hang out at the lake and those who want to bring boats while the rest just kick back and enjoy the lake. I am not sure what the movie will be but it is supposed to be one of the more current action adventure movies that is out. We bring up a projector and surround sound system. All that is needed is a comfortable chair, your favorite movie snacks and drink.
This is always a good time. Most of us camp the night and leave in the morning once things start to warm up. A pass is required and available at the entrance to the north boat ramp.
let me know.

It was a great time. Weather was great every day but Thursday, and that was not too bad. Thursday was the only day I ran my swamp cooler in my pinz and that was so I could catch a little nap. A buddy of mine with his truck and I went up Thursday to get an early start to the weekend and reserve the spot on the outcropping that we like to camp at. Most of the folks came in on Friday afternoon with a few on Saturday morning. There were 18 people there in various rigs. We had 3 pinzgauers, 1 volvo c303, 1 Isuzu Rodeo, 1 gmc pickup, 1 dodge pickup and 2 motorcycles.
We ended up watching "Contraband" on Friday night and "The Grey" on Saturday night. The biggest weather issue was the dust storm that came through Saturday evening. The only thing it did was cool down the temps a little to the point where some of the people used blankets to cover themselves up during the movie. We had eight pounds of shrimp that we breaded and deep fried for the shrimp tacos which were excellent.

I don't usually take many pictures on these types of outings but there were a couple taken.

The burro population around the lake seems to have grown a lot. I have never seen so many there in all the years I have been going to the lake.

For me it seems on these social events, once people start showing up I always seem to put the camera down. I don't believe I saw anyone else with a camera out. Would have made a neat picture with the trucks set against the lake though.
Lake Pleasant always has a breeze blowing from the south. The north shores are a great place to hang out. It is also one of the last lakes where you can actually camp on the shore of the lake in a remote setting. they do have established camping areas for those who prefer to be around others.

May not be able to camp on the shore for much longer. Have you seen the North Lake Pleasant Travel Management and Recreation Plan Proposals? See the link below:

currently they are wanting to close some of the "side" trails that people have been creating. I saw the sheriff out there talking to people who I assume neglected to pay. The plan is not to close the main routes but to stop the sub roads from becoming major ones. The big discussion is whether or not to put a self pay station at the entrance to the north end of the lake. I don't believe those who are currently not paying will pay then either. surprisingly the area is relatively clean considering the amount of use it gets. I know we always pick up a little but there is not much trash left behind from the campers, seems to be more boating related trash that makes its way to the shores. I am sure like all other areas of this state it will be closed some time in the future but for now it looks like they are planning on keeping it open just limiting the trails that can be used. in any case it is an area that should be enjoyed while the opportunity is still available.

Thanks for the additional info. I agree we should enjoy it while we still can. I really like camping on that side of the lake.
