Jeep From Mark Allen, head of Jeep design
Check out this short Truck Trend article with some thoughts from the head of Jeep design...

"I don't know if I'd consider body-on-frame as that big a part of the Jeep identity. I consider tractive capability more of the core of what Jeep is. It really doesn't matter if it's body-on-frame or not, it's all about the capability. I wouldn't say body-on-frame is a driving factor in how we build the next Wrangler."

OH NOooo!

That was the one thing that I just couldn't stop worrying about when I had my '99 XJ. Every time I took it offroad I worried about "bending" it. And yes I had frame stiffeners on it and I have been told over and over by people about how rigid the frame was, But I just couldn't stop worrying about it.....it got to the point that I just didn't want to take it offroad anymore, So I sold it to hopefully someone who will wheel it.
Really did like that thing though..........maybe I liked it too much?

I'm afraid that if jeep goes to all unibody I don't think I will ever be able to have one in my stable.

I think I will keep mine for as long as I can then exit offroad...... when I am 75 or dead.

You can build up a uni-body well but I just wouldnt want be excited about it. I have had an xj then wj and when going to the JK I was excited about having a robust frame that wouldnt creek when I had a tire up in the air. Just IMHO of course. different strokes for different folks.
