Somebody needs to be skinned alive!
This guy just left his dog on this mountain for 8 days because she had hurt paws. And then he has the gall to expect the dog back!?!?!?http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blog...opstories.html Owner going to be charged w/ animal cruelty. (IMHO a good start...but he needs worse) http://news.yahoo.com/man-charged-ab...211238799.html |

You would have to charge the search and rescue members also.
An 'unofficial' rescue could have been arranged by sheriff or rescue. They are more guilty by way of convenience. Owner had a good reason to leave the dog and no official to go to for aid or guidance.

I'm not saying that what the guy did was right, but last time I checked it's still legal to be stupid. In that he didn't have the wherewithal to summon help for the dog isn't against the law. Who knows what was going through his mind? I think its equally stupid for him to try to lay claim to the dog, which kind of proves my point about his mental capacity. Diane

It was his responsibility as that animals owner to find a way to get her down. Its sickening that someone could actually do that, no matter what the case is, a life is a life. I treat my animals as if they were my children. I'd do alot to protect them as I'm sure they would for me. I'm glad the story has a happy ending and that some people that actually care about something other than themselves came along her.

He could have asked for help to get the dog down, charges need to be pressed against him for animal cruelty. Or maybe a 22 bullet to his head would help solve the world of one less stupid piece of crap.

Shooting the dog would have, as you said, been the exact course of action to take.
Maybe he thought shooting the dog was too definite and that there was a chance the dog could make it down on its own, or he could get the help he needed by asking the search and rescue to escort him back up to get the dog. I think you may be jumping the gun [haha] a bit by advocating shooting that dog.

No not the dog, shoot the owner that left the dog! Or maybe chop his feet off and leave him on the mountain for 8 days.
At least charge him w animal cruelty. |

If you truly love your animal you will either find a way to get them home, or realize that they are done and do a mercy killing. I recently lost my best dog Shadow and it was mind numbing. He died with his head in my lap. That being said, If he was bite by a rattle snake or otherwise seriously injured I would not hesitate to have put him down.

Shoot the dog? mercy killing? come on now be nice.
I'm a member of Verde Search and Rescue in Yavapai county. Arizona does not authorize rescuing of animals, only people. But we and DPS Ranger have on ocassion brought dogs out when the owners said it was themselves that were hurt or lost. The last hike I took my 60 pound, 10yr old dog on I had to carry her the last half mile or so on the top of my backpack, she was exhausted. |
