Great pics everyone. Sure sad that we were not able to make it. Hopefully next year.

Default Overland Expo Trip Report
Chris and I had a great time checking out Flagstaff, the Expo, and the scenic route home through Payson, Globe, and Mammoth, AZ back to Tucson. Here is the link to the album:

https://picasaweb.google.com/1109683...eat=directlink

We started off by doing some shopping and eating out at Diablo burger in Flagstaff:

We then made our way over to the camp spot to say hi to everyone. The road in was a bit challenging for Chris's new off-road Sonic Chevy's new advertizing theme is "Find a New Road". I'm pretty sure we accomplished that.

We all had to hunt for firewood as this area was picked clean. However within no time we had a fire going.

Once the sun went down it got cold fast. Growing up in the north, you would think I wouldn't be such a wuss! But within no time we both were frozen and decided to head back to the hotel to do our "camping". We seriously need to get some winter clothing!

The next say was beautiful but still windy and cold by Tucson standards!! I am thankful for having bought a better jacket and some gloves.

We got the expo and parked way out in the field. On the walk to the expo we got to watch the shiny Land Rovers play on the course:

Can't even imagine trying to get up into one of these let alone drive one:

Perfect for the Zombie invasion

The guys hanging out at the booth:

I wonder how many times he got to explain his cool shower system:

Hanging out at the campfire night two:

Our awesome Hollywood fueling up after a tough day of crowd wrangling!

Sorry for the stick ruining the shot:

We headed back to the expo for day two and found my dream tent but the price was crazy. Started at $800. On a side note I also found a cool Land Rover chair that they wanted over $200. I think not! We did pickup a nice 60 quart Canyon Cooler and already noticed a big difference over our "Coleman Extreme".

Hollywood was once again wooing the crowd and helping them find our exhibit.

Around 11am we decided we had to start heading back to Tucson if we were going to make it home in time to get our Dog Clayton from puppy prison. We decided to take the scenic Lake Mary road south through Pine, Strawberry and Payson. Then take 188 towards Roosevelt Lake to Globe, AZ. Then on to Rt 77 south from Globe to Mammoth to Oracle. This route was really pretty but took us forever to get home. We did find a new swimming hole on Rt 77 that we want to go back to check out since it is only about 45 mins. from the house.

At Globe Chris wanted me to record the great gas mileage the Sonic was getting. We really enjoyed all that downhill!!

Roosevelt Lake:

Not flexing but still posing:

Through the windshield:

Cool car in Globe:

It was great seeing everyone. We really enjoyed the Expo and the area. We hope to make it to Smiley Rock but our AC Compressor just died again (Sunday when we got home). We are trying to get a warranty replacement but still have to pay for labor, freon, etc.

Looks like it was a great time, sorry I missed it. K, your WJ at the pumps looks like you needed to watch out for low overpasses!

You might want to think twice about that swimming hole along 77. I was just at Coolidge Dam last week, upstream from there and this is what I found:

That stuff floating in the water in this image is MANY, MANY THOUSANDS of dead fish. This is on the Gila River, upstream from where Hwy 77 goes down to it.

I just thought you might want to know.
