We are planning a 'fluid' trip to Baja Mexico lasting 10 to 14 days. The rough plan is to meet in San Felipe, then drive 2 or 3 days to Loreto, and spend a couple, 3 or 4 days checking out that area before making our way back. On the way home we are going to stop off at however many points of interest along the Sea of Cortez as we have time for.

Join me for a 2-night adventure through Northern Arizona as we drive down to the banks of the Colorado River deep into the Grand Canyon, visit a historic abandoned airport where Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindburgh flew, cruise the historic Jerome-Perkinsville Road, ending our trip in the funky and haunted town of Jerome.
      Trail Rating: 4x4 Easy
This trip is suitable for all types of 4x4 high-clearance rigs. Offroad trailers are A-OK too.
There will be a 45/55 mix of pavement and dirt roads on this trip with primitive camping.

Camp Verde To Mogollon Rim Overland Style Run
      Saturday May 6th & Sunday May 7th
Primitive Tent Camping | No Facilities
Join me for 2 days and approximately 105 miles of exploration on this overland style run.  This route will take us from Camp Verde to the Mogollon Rim where we will camp.  I have pieced this together using various trails in the area.  Most of these trails are easy to moderate based on my research, nothing too technical is involved. There some rocky two track sections mixed for good measure. Extra fuel is not necessarily required, however, if you have the ability to bring some it is worth considering doing so.

Join us for a challenging climb up to an incredible scenic overlook and abandoned asbestos mine. This moderate rated trail runs through a burned area and is therefore prone to washouts, large eroded ditches, and inconveniently placed boulders and downed trees. It's also extremely narrow in places, so no full-size rigs please.
Note: This is our second 2023 run on this trail, members that were on the standby list for the first trip have sign-up priority for this one. Click here for the trip report from our last attempt...

We will work together to honor those laid to rest by placing American flags at the grave markers. This seemingly minor act has a tremendous positive impact on the families and friends who will visit their loved ones on Memorial Day and the days following while the display is up.

We are going to do some exploration around the Apache Maid and Cedar Flats trails. We will be camping on Saturday at the Buckhorn Cabin and ranch area. Planning on making it to make camp early in the afternoon so we can set up, explore the area and relax.  I am putting trails and other stuff together soon.

Join my wife and I for a day trip on the famous Casner Mountain Trail! The USFS only allots 22 permits per year to help keep this trail in good shape. Each permit limited to 10 vehicles/25 people,  that means getting there and running the trail is a special treat.
This trail will take us high above the city of Sedona along a series of serious switchbacks where we will gain 2,000 ft of elevation in just under 2 miles. At the top, we will ride the ridge-back of the mountains with beautiful views of the Red Rock Secret Mountain Wilderness to the right and Sycamore Canyon to the left. As we climb, the landscape will transform from scrub brush and junipers to the tall and shady Ponderosa pines. We'll cruise through the Coconino National Forest and end up just outside of the city of Flagstaff near the I-17.
Details and sign ups can be found here.

Join me for a night run to experience the famous Perseid Meteor Shower from just under 6,000 ft atop the Harquahala Mountains, a noted dark sky site, on this fun Saturday night run!
If you're not familiar with Harquahala, it is a stunning and isolated mountain just north-west of Tonopah, AZ and is the tallest peak in southwestern Arizona. One of the major appeals of this mountain is the fact that you can drive all the way to it's summit to enjoy the views - no hiking needed! The trail is about 11 miles up and 11 miles back.
Our trip will include a daylight drive to the top where we will be able to enjoy sunset in one of the most beautiful areas in the state. Once the sun has gone down and the stars have revealed themselves, we will be treated by the Perseid Meteor Shower, which happens to peak that night. Once we've taken in the views, we'll do a fun night run back to the staging area.
      Trail Difficulty: Easy
This trail "changes" all of the time depending upon wear/weather. By and large - this trail is rated as easy and any high clearance rig with 4x4 low-range will be fine. Note: the trail is STEEP in some areas and is an out-and-back ride.

The Dusy Ershim is an extremely difficult and beautiful 4x4 trail located in the middle-of-nowhere portion of the Sierra National Forest in California. It's often compared to The Rubicon Trail with similar granite slabs and towering pines, but most folks agree current trail conditions and the 30 mile length make it much tougher. The entire trail is higher elevation (9 to 10k feet), so there's an even shorter wheeling season of Aug 1 through Nov 1 depending on snowpack. This challenging overland adventure will entail rock-crawl style wheeling for 3 to 4 days with primitive tent camping by the trail each night.
Please read this post in the pre-planning thread to know what you're getting into, this is not a typical Offroad Passport overland trip. Note these dates could shift depending on weather or wildfires. The listed dates are actual wheeling dates (3 to 4 days), so add in time for travel to and from the Shaver Lake area.

Join me for a trip of the lifetime, one of our last chances to see an Annular Solar Eclipse (commonly known as a "Ring of Fire"). The eclipse will pass a large swath of the USA, concentrated on the southwest, on October 14th 2023. We will witness this miracle of nature while also enjoying the eye-popping scenery of southern Utah on a moderate off-road trail.
      TRIP STYLE: Freestyle!
This is not planned as a group camping trip. You will need to book your own accommodations or camping site. We will meet up at the trailhead on Saturday morning and ride out to check out the trail and the eclipse. Lunch on the trail. Trail is rated as MODERATE.
Trip is suitable to any high-clearance 4x4 with LOW RANGE

Bring along plenty of smiles and let's wander through the western area, around Lake Alamo, ending at Swansea - an old AZ mining town - for a hauntingly good time.  I haven't been out here for awhile, but I'm relatively sure that it will be an Easy to Moderate run.  3 days, 2 nights of primitive camping.  Not sure of our route yet, but will get it figured out between now and then!
