12/2 - 12/4/2018: Parker & Lake Havasu 'Splorin, near Parker, AZ, 4x4 Difficult, primitive camping

Join us as we take a series of trails from Oatman Warm Springs Wilderness down through Crossman Peak, and the Buckskin Mountains near Parker, AZ, camping along the way. These trails are described as rocky, challenging, and in one spot, intimidating. There are plenty points of interest along the route; lots of mines, an abandoned WWII landing strip, the infamous Nellie E saloon, and a possible warm spring. We've rated the trip as difficult because of the exploratory nature of it.

Schedule & Meetup updated below, we now meet on Sunday!

Meet-up: Noon, Sunday, Dec. 2 at I-40 & Exit 13 Franconia Road (North Side) - Map here...

Itinerary:
Please be fueled up and ready to explore when you arrive at the meet up!

Sunday We're exploring north of the I-40 into the Warm Springs Wilderness. There are several mining operations we can check out along the way. Hoping to find good camping near the Warm Springs Wilderness.

Monday After breaking camp we'll take a different trail back toward the I-40, and refuel at the truck stop at the intersection of I-40 & Hwy. 95, before going back to Freconia Road and taking it SE toward Crossman Peak. We hope to have time to check out Scott's Well, a side trail called Mohave Wash, and an alleged WWII landing strip. We'll camp wherever we end up.

Tuesday Break camp, continue in a southerly direction, skirting Lake Havasu City to the SE. We'll need to air up, then take Hwy. 95 to Parker, and then explore the Buckskin Mountains trail. Head home in the afternoon.
Additional Info:
Driver Requirement: This trail is for experienced 4x4 enthusiasts only.

Vehicle Minimums:
  • All vehicles are required to meet state legal requirements, (i.e.: current registration and insurance)
  • Have functional seat-belts for each occupant
  • Must have suitable recovery points front and rear
  • Each vehicle must have a CB Radio in good working order
  • Ham Radios are a plus - if you're a Ham operator please let us know
  • High-clearance 4x4's with low-range
  • 33"+ aggressive all-terrain or mud-terrain tires
  • At least 1 select-able or constant locker

Vehicle Recommendations: Skid plates on important areas such as transfer-case & gas-tank, rock-rails, aftermarket differential covers, high-clearance metal bumpers, trimmed wheel wells, low axle gearing, upgraded axle shafts, 4:1 transfer case, 35"+ tires, custom roll-cage.

CB Channel: 4
Ham Frequency: 146.46 MHz

Okay I've added everyone so far to the roster. Just to be clear y'all know this is posted for NEXT year right?

G's talking about doing an exploratory trip to the region soon though, that we'll post as soon as we figure out where and when.
