i guess that i didn't explain well in my other post...

besides the plastic cover and it's foam, i also removed a big chunk of insulating foam from beneath the intake manifold, and a piece from behind the manifold.

i'm wondering why that's there and how important it is to leave it? i'm thinking it's to keep the cooler intake air from absorbing as much heat from the engine as it flows through the manifold.

you can see the 2 pieces in this photo:



and here they are removed:



as i mentioned, i'm more concerned than most maybe with the left head temperature, so that's why i decided to go ahead and remove those.
