Im thinking Ill break it free, maybe dremel through the welds. Then weld in a small plate that I can fish bolts through and use nuts to hold it.

If you decide to weld a plate in place, why not either tap it for a bolt, or use a welded nut on the plate? be simpler for future shock work ..

Yup exactly what I was thinking. Either way should be good.

I can't view these photos from my computer but I have this Zone bar pin eliminator kit in my garage I never used and could let go of if you haven't already started welding

Finally got that shock busted out of there!

Holy crap that was a pain in the ass! Previous owner said it wasnt welded. He said he broke it on the trail and used these bolts that self flatten and melt? Ive never heard of such a thing!

Anyone know wth he's talking about? Id like to get some and keep them in the jeep tool box. Stuff was strong!

I had to drill tiny holes all around the edge of the bubbles to weaken its hold. Then I just hulked it out of there.

Scott, I decided Im just going to fish new hardware down from the side, through that little opening on the crossmember. Thanks for the BPE offer though!
