Jeep Sunday 10/13/2013: Black Canyon Creek near Black Canyon, AZ: Moderate 4x4
Trail:

Black Canyon Creek, #36 in the new Wells book. rated difficult in the book, moderate by me. a stock Wrangler or Tacoma can do it, most other rigs need a small lift. you do need 4x4 with a low-range and decent tires. extremely tight brush - expect scratches. last trip report here...

bring a full-size shovel if you have one - i haven't been there in a year and there were a couple areas that seemed prone to washouts.

should be done by early afternoon depending on group size and trail conditions. bring plenty of water and snacks and maybe a lunch.

Meet:

8 AM - 4 Sons gas station on Carefree Hwy just east of I-17 (3150 W Carefree Hwy...)

Attending:

prolly be fine, but it would scratch it a LOT, very tight brush. there's one hair-pin turn with a washout that might require a multi-point turn.

Nice seeing you too. We all made it back safe. Minor trail carnage for some & cosmetic repair for others, but we're all back safe
