It was indeed a great trip! Thanks to those who were able to come! Tim, Devon, Roy, Dick and Joyce, John, and Romeo. Oh and Gunny! Thanks for posting some pics Tim!

We left Tonopah on Friday morning, heading north under Interstate 10.

This trail is a cherry stem - running right between 2 wilderness areas....Big Horn Mountain Wilderness and Hummingbird Springs Wilderness. On our way to Hummingbird Springs, we take a side spur on a legit trail to something that I had seen on google earth....It was a water catchment for wildlife....

And then we went on and found the springs!!! No water here, but obviously the site of an old ranch.

From there we went onto Evening Star mine.
Along the way we see a group of 8 burros. (3 out of pic) They were fine until a pair of side-bys came along and off they ran, braying all the way...

At the Evening Star mine, the old vehicle above the mine was used for its winching in and out of the mine. Tim can elaborate!

And from there onto Golden Cord mine. We have no pics of this one because we were all Overcome! by it! There was a piece of metal and a piece of old plywood covering this 2 ft x 3 ft hole...and it had the longest ladder down that I have ever seen! Straight down this shaft.

We camped out along this trail on Friday night...it is quite remote and nice.

On Saturday we headed over to Gold Bullion mine. It was rather tricky getting to it, and we don't think there's been anyone there for awhile...at least not the way we got to it..the trail was there but not used recently.

And then up Harquahala Peak. Where its always windy and cold! Dick and Joyce check out the old homestead. Its nice to see people are preserving this...first time I ever saw it (many years ago) the roof was not intact.

After coming down from the peak, we went up a spur trail on the east side of the mountain, which dead ends at the Harquahala Mountain Wilderness area. There we found a no-name mine, which the crew respectfully labeled it as the Holy Moses Mine. I am honored.

You could walk in for a short way and then there was lots of water. And it was clear water! And some burro hair...they've obviously gone in there after water and encountered another...for either fighting or mating. No bones, so that was good.

From there onto Purple Pansy mine, the manganese pit where we saw the gray fox, and the Blue Hope mine on the north side of Hummingbird Spring Wilderness. It was fun watching John and Romeo cook their Eisenhower steaks...and they tasted good! It was a great campsite, quite remote, but quite cold as well...

We were slow moving Sunday morning in that cold, but pulled out and headed home.
THANKS to those who came along on this adventure!!

Romeo is a good friend who was giving the ladies flowers and chocolate during our adventures. You may know him as Al but now he is Romeo. Beware ladies
