I know that this thread is old, but is the Baofeng UV-5R+ still the goto cheapie, or is there another one that is better in a similar price range?

the BF-F8HP with a higher wattage setting and some other models have come out since then at similar prices to what the UV-5R+ originally was, or you can just get a 5R with all the accessories for about that price too...
my 5R died a while back and since it's not my main radio i just replaced it with another one instead of upgrading.
