Tow Truck What did you do to your rig today?
every other forum has a thread like this, so why not us? just a place to post up any old random thing you did to your rig on any given day!

i'll get it started - today i looked at it, thought hard about washing it, but decided it had the perfect amount of mud on it (just enough to hide the scars, but not so much to make it ugly), so i left it alone!

some cases take ATF, others take gear oil, others take special stuff. if yours needs ATF or gear oil, just go Royal Purple - otherwise go factory fluid to be safe (like if you need friction modifiers or whatnot).

while down there, don't forget the grease fittings on your driveshaft and u-joints IF you have them, yours may not.

Use Red Line synthetic. I run it in my Cruiser. It's made for what we do. You will pay a little more for it but you will not find a better oil for your T/C, Diffs, or engine. I had some warranty work done on my rig and when Toyota saw the Red Line oil in my front diff (the color is red) they were very impressed with it. At first they thought I had water in my diff because of the color though. When they called me about it I was able to clarify what they were looking at.

I sat in the "BugEater" for a long time deciding how I wanted to go about modifying my laptop mount. Then I contemplated how to put together the money for a new LOD rear bumper with swingout versus just fabricating my own swingout jerry can holders for my existing Warn bumper and leaving the spare mounted to the rear door.

There come to mind SO many cute quips that could get me in all sorts of trouble...

BUT... I've turned over a new leaf, and will simply offer my sympathies, and an offer to help drink George's Beer if he needs a hand changing them...

I have this LOD swingout and it's heavy, but has done me well for the 3 years that I have had it.....I use the rack on top for firewood, rather than a cooler.

I really like the looks of the LOD bumper. I've installed them for several friends on Jeeps and Cruisers. I know they're heavy but the Warn is heavy too without the swingout. I already run the OME Heavy Coils and shocks. The added weight might actually help me ride a little smoother. Although... It certainly won't improve my gas mileage.

LOD is a leader in their designs. I'm surprised we don't see more of them out there. Their engineering is some of the best I've seen. You pay for that engineering though.

Hmm When I had the diffs done, I asked them to check those they said they were ok.. I took a look under there and see grease, or what looks to be grease leaking from the driveshaft, so I would assume its something that can be done. I dont think they did it tho.

I hate that I live in an apt now and no longer have a garage. I hate paying someone to do stuff I can do myself.

To stay on topic, I did however check my Battery and Charging system

Vehicle and all accesories off 12.8v

Vehicle on w/ AC on High + Lights + Fogs 13.5v

Am I incorrect in assuming both tests should have the battery over 13v? its a brand new Optima Redtop 1000 CA 800 CA
