Jeep Jeep 4.0 (XJ) Oil Pump
Whilst idling when I can see my oil pressure drop and then increasing with revs. It seems like this a common occurrence with high mileage 4.0's. I am planning to replace my oil pan gasket soon along with th rear main seal, so I thought it would be a good idea to inspect and replace my oil pump whilst the pan is dropped. I was wondering what is the best replacement option for this task? Am I better off ordering a standard replacement such as an Enginetech or Melling, or pay a little extra for the Mopar replacement? I see you get high volume pumps too... Or would you rather just leave it be!

All advice is always welcome!

My oil pump does the same thing and it is new. If your oil pressure is over 40 at high way speed I would leave it alone.

My oil pump does the same thing, especially with a/c on in gear and stopped at a traffic light. It's also been replaced since I've owned mine.
If you're going to R&R yours, I suggest you consider Mopar parts. They cost more but were engineered to last longer than cheap knock offs.

This is a common occurrence with all engines as oil will thin out as it heats up.
