Default Tire pressure gauge?
My electronic battery powered tire gauge has gone haywire. I liked it just fine untill the battery started to fail, then the readings were jumping up and down.
So I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good mechanical tire gauge? Thanks, Bob

the Powertank and ARB inflators (with gauges) are very nice units - overkill though if you just need a gauge i guess...

I've had good luck with this gauge.

Accu-Gage H60X Professional Tire Pressure Gauge with Protective Rubber Guard (60 PSI) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GWTAAIA..._1lwJybXP4WA50

When I first purchased it almost two years ago I took it to work and compared it with two high dollar gauges we used that were kept in calibration by our instrumentation dept. My purchased gauge was about a lb different from the high dollar units.

Default ARB Gauge
I have the ARB506 Small Dial Tire gauge/deflator similar to the Accu-Gauge but more expensive. Works very well and matches my old school tire gauge.

I looked online and all the suggested gauges look very nice for what I want.
We're back in Mesa, till Monday, so maybe I will be able to find one at sierra expeditions, or somewhere else.
I sure haven't had any pencil type gauges that are good quality.
Again thanks for the replys.

I had the Powertank one since it looks so cool. I assume I got a lemon tough since it was off by 10PSI. Sent it back the next day. It is also bigger and heavier than I expected.

When I looked for a gauge, I had three requirements:
1. Have large lettering and have the 30-35PSI range in the middle of the scale. Most gauge go to 150PSI which make the 30PSI range very small to read.
2. Have an air release button.
3. NOT be open pressure. My compressor has a pressure switch.

In the end I went with this Viar: http://www.viaircorp.com/digitalinflationgun.html

It is though digital, but the battery lasts a long time (for me aprox 2 years).

Good Luck.

I will check out the viair inflation gun Dan, I wasn't even aware that they made them.
I'm sorry that I didn't reply earlier, but we were off exploring some trails in southern Arizona, and didn't have a signal for a couple of days.
Thanks for the info.

Good luck with whatever your choice will be.

Re: running out of batteries: the Viair I mentioned has a heavy rubber housing that's removable. I keep a battery spare inside it just in case. Also, the LCD is illuminated, which makes it easy to read in the dark as well.

Have fun exploring!

Looks nice. I love the big lettering and that the 30PSI is in the middle.
