Wonderful trip report! I just led our club run on Hole In the Rock last weekend and really wish I'd seen your report beforehand. We did a lot of research before we departed but nothing we read captured the trail like your report has done.

Here's a link to my Photobucket album of our trip. We did a narrative on our FB page.

We departed on 10/28 from home (Durango, CO) and were on the trail at 1PM. Ran the new entrance (Nokai Dome) to the link road, got on the old road an found a campsite around 4:30 called Limestone camp. Ran the rest of the trail to Cottonwood Canyon & back to camp next day, then departed Sunday 10/30 and were back at the Cal Black Airport by 1PM for the run back home. One of our members has run the trail 19 times and suggests a four day minimum on the trail so you can explore. Tend to agree, we missed a lot because of the pace I had to set to get us back to camp before dark.

Thanks again!

a friend that now lives in kingman is a member of the Red Rock 4x4 club in moab and has run it over 30 times. says the rincon portion is awesome too. I had a great time. George, Diane and Kris are superb trail bosses. so with any luck we get another chance to run it soon.

Hey, thanks for the props on the adventure story. I also wrote an informational report - just the basics of what you need to know if you're going. Here's a link to it: http://offroadpassport.com/forum/showthread.php?p=13067#post13067. We had a difficult time finding good pre-trip info, so please feel free to post this link for others who are going.

Will do. I had a lot of difficulty finding comprehensive information on the trail. I ended up with some good info pieced together from some individual reports, plus a guide of sorts from our club member mentioned above. Although we did the trail comfortably in three days, given the time of year the days were shorter and it restricted our ability to explore. If I put another trip together I'll plan it for mid-May or mid-Septemeber and do four or five days.

What an amazing trip! I'd love to do something like that, one day. :)
