macinyart 8 Posted October 7, 2009 SWEET report as always D... Thanx for making it all jump off the pages, and "come alive"... This is a great choice of words. Thanks. The only thing I can add is that I am jealous and wish I could have gone along. More on that later. I have an agenda that will keep me in Wisconsin until early December this year, but will continue to lurk.
GRUNT 87 Posted October 7, 2009 That was a really good trip report Diane, now we all need a 33 inch by 36 inch picture of George wearing that hat over our fireplaces. I would like this in a poster for my garage. I just remodelled and it would look good above my bench! I would love to do this trip next year! A few questions for the adventurers: -How did the V-8 do on gas KSmith? -Could a M-101 trailer make this trip? I would plan on a refrigerated cooler in my trailer and also bring tons of water. Sorry to hear about your key D and the direction hiccup. Glad it worked out! Great report, thank you so much for providing us this opportunity.

Sorry to hear about your key D and the direction hiccup. Glad it worked out! Great report, thank you so much for providing us this opportunity. the V-8 only used just over 1/8 of a tank more than everyone else by the last day in the canyonlands, so the extra 5 gallon gerry can was plenty to make it back to the Hite Marina for gas at the end.... next time i think we are planning to spend more time in less destinations (for more time to hike/site see in only the best spots), so gas shouldn't be a big deal for anyone with one jug extra. there are several switchbacks and a couple places you have to backup and do a 2 or 3 point turn, so trailers are definately not recomended..... not impossible, but not recommended. now depending on how we go in next time, we may miss the main switchbacks where you would have to unhook and manually move the trailer. overall, i just think the trip would be more fun without a trailer to deal with in the technical sections.
