matt@expaz 2 Posted October 18, 2012 For anyone who hasn't done this, Rug Road is an awesome trip and shouldn't be missed. Almost exactly two years ago, we spent a weekend camping there and the highlight of the trip (at least for me) was seeing a large herd of bighorn sheep. They were eating the prickly pear fruit (which is why they look like they have red lipstick on) on a cliff above a steep canyon and didn't seem to care that I was there taking pictures. They let me get within 20 feet of them before one of the big rams gave me a warning snort and I figured not to try to get any closer. He could have easily sent me over the cliff if he wanted to. More pictures can be seen at my Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/ExperienceArizona You can also see my write up on the trail at: http://www.experience-az.com/adventures/4wd/rugroad/rugroad.html
balljointnut 0 Posted October 18, 2012 Nice photos. If I ever hit the once in a lifetime tag for Bighorn sheep I know where to go.
