theksmith 4,157 Posted February 20, 2013 Hi, we will be starting on the trail near Mammoth, AZ and end the trail near Klondyke, AZ. For the 2 nights that we're out there we will be camping along the trail. Certainly a tent is not required, a few guys even prefer to sleep on the ground, so 'tent camping' in this case is a descriptive term for 'primitive camping'. Hope that helps. just to clarify, we are camping in different spots each night, accessible only via 4x4. we also are not doing a loop, so trailering a rig would not be recommended. sometimes we do a "hub-n-spoke style" trips where a central camp is feasible, even staying in campgrounds when that makes sense. this one however is more of the "expedition style" trip. tents are cheap - hope to still see you make it! 91AzXJ 2 Posted March 1, 2013 Looks like I have to cancel Moab for Easter so this sounds like a good alternative for my daughter and I. You have seen my XJ, 3" lift, not locked, I do have discos now, is this too much for my rig?

6x6pinz 1 Posted March 4, 2013 We got back home last night from running this trail. Weather was absolutely perfect, warm by day and cool enough at night to enjoy a nice campfire. Saturday evening we camped at a spot with a little snow left on the ground. Turkey creek was running at a nice level for pictures. We only saw one other rig on the trail and that was near the Klondyke side on the way out. At Aravapai trail head there were only two vehicles and those folks had walked up the creek a little (out of state plates). We met up at the shooting range with another Pinz owner from Tucson and left from there Friday afternoon. The Klondyke Post office is now closed and for sale (if anyone wants to buy a post office/saloon). I don't take pics but a couple of the other pinz guys did. Once they post up their pics I will post a link. You all are in for a good time.
