Trip Itinerary:

Friday, March 12: Caravan to Yuma, last chance for gas, ice, water and food. Drive to Fortuna Mine and set up camp.

Saturday, March 13: Explore Fortuna Mine Site, break camp and drive through Tinajas Altas Pass to 7 Wells. Set up camp and explore the area surrounding 7 Wells.

Sunday, March 14: Break camp, drive East on The Devil's Highway, stopping on the way to explore Tule Well, Nameer Grave Site, Pinacate Lava Flow, O'Neil Grave, and then on to Papago Well to set up camp. Sunday's drive will take us through Las Playas (Moondust area).

Monday, March 15: Break Camp, continue East on The Devil's Highway, enter the Cabeza Prieta Refuge, stop to explore at Bates Well, and at Darby Wells. Then it's on to Ajo, AZ. to fuel up and head home.

What to bring:

Lots of Water, food for 3 days, firewood, tent and camping gear, sunscreen, hat, camera, etc. Although the trip is 100 + miles on dirt, we've never experienced anyone running out of gas, so you shouldn't need to haul any, but it is an option.

The weather is generally warm during the days, but it can get chilly at night and early mornings.

Rig Miniumums:

This trip is suitable for stock 4x4 vehicles.

I really want to go on this. What time will you be departing the Phoenix area on Friday? Could I get by with just taking Monday off work? I need more vacation time. Argh!

We'll probably be leaving early since we're entering at Fortuna, but I bet you could find us if you left later. Heck, I bet we'll even have cell coverage at Fortuna Mine it's so close to town. You could volunteer to lead a late convoy if you want. . .

I'm in the same boat with Phil. I have a permit but no video stamp.

Is it true that the only place to get the stamp is Ajo?
