theksmith 3,832 Posted October 12, 2012 i read part 1 so far - nice job Sam, very detailed. i'll have to read the other parts later today. from your report: "We were told that we would need to bribe the solders with porn and money or worse. What we experienced was just the opposite." - i've also never had any issue with the checkpoints. many years ago, the first time i was in mexico, i had spoken my half-ass spanish to them at the first few checkpoints and this just prompted them to ask me lots more questions than the standard "where from, where going?". so if you do know spanish, pretend that you don't, most of them will only ask you the couple of questions they know the english for and then waive you on. at least that was my experience - did the ones you encountered speak much english? ZMagic97 1 Posted October 13, 2012 Sam, thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this up: it was a real pleasure to read. Both the pictures and words were great and really made it easy to feel like I was there. Also, reading this was very motivational for me to do a trip and write about everything I did to share it with others.
Dead end Joe 1 Posted October 13, 2012 Excellent trip report Sam. That is a journey I would love to take. I have been to Cabo on a ship, I have flown to Cabo and I have driven to Cabo but that was as a pit crew on the Baja 1000. None of these trips did I have the means or the time to enjoy the country the way you did. That sounds like a great trip and I am glad everything went relatively well.
