Interesting ideas....

Recommended Posts

I don't know if any of you have seen Jeff Scherb's concepts over on the Jeep forum, but he has an amazing talent for cooking up ideas for jeep wranglers. His Jeep tub trailer kit is now in production by a company called Dinoot. I have been following his work for a couple of years now, simply because I have wanted to make a Jeep tub trailer for overland camping. My version is to take a factory CJ/YJ/TJ tub and build a trailer out of it, but it would be too nose heavy due to the axle placement on a factory tub.

Let me know what you think.

Jeff designs his projects out of fiberglass.

Here is his Safari Cab for LJ's:

And my personal favorites of his designs, the Jeep tub trailer concepts:

The safari hard top is awesome! If they made something like that for 4Runners, I'd consider it on my truck

I'd love to build an offroad tear drop style camper, but haven't figured out how I'd sleep Marcia and I with Evan also.

Roof top tent on top of the tear drop....

Here is my original idea from about 4 years ago.... (Crude paint program drawings, but you get the idea.) The axle is too far back though making it heavy at the hitch....

Here is one that the maker these half cabs built:

And another that someone else built:

But again they are nose heavy....

Of course, I haven't actually weighed one out to see... After talking with Jeff, who came up with all these great ideas, and Scott over at Dinoot, my idea of using an actual jeep tub isn't practical. The kits that are being sold now are so much more flexible in how you want to build a trailer, from different lengths, tire sizes, frame construction, etc, the possibilities are endless..

Now Jeff is designing a military trailer that could be sold in kit form... Here's a link... http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/bolt-together-fiberglass-jeep-tub-trailer-kit-1274811/

Hope you all enjoy..
