Number7 89 Posted December 17, 2015 K is correct. All you need is a floor jack. I'm sure the transmission mount is good. The plate between the mount and the transfer case (exhaust hanger) needs to be notched more than what 4wheelers did. The linkage needs to be checked for any loose bolts. I had to actually ground our middle console to allow for a longer throw to get it into 4-low. I'd be glad to help, just can't do the work right now due to my sliced-open forearm, but I'd be glad to supervise. Let me know if you guys want to get together. I think they notched it to make room for the 242 because it's thicker to avoid the floor pan Since my LCA's are connected to the belly skid, wouldn't I also need to take apart the front suspension? All you need to do is unbolt the notched steel plate and jack up the t-case then notch it out more so it does not hit the t-case and drop the case back, bolt it up and then adjust linkage. Here's a crudely drawn red line in attempt to illustrate the area in which I can feel with my hand where the t-case comes into contact with the notched steel plate If I were to cut that much out of the way, I wonder if there would be enough steel leftover. I'd love to get together for at least some supervision. I can have the t-case all jacked up ready to go with mount bolts unbolted. Mason will be in town so I'm taking next week off except Tuesday. ob1jeeper 849 Posted December 23, 2015 I may be missing something here, but the notched part over which you have sketched a possible new cut to, is the plate that is firmly bolted to the power plant at the trans/t-case joint. Thus it should not be moving relative to the t-case, UNLESS the mount fasteners are loose. The original notch cut appears to have been done to provide clearance so the mounting plate will simply bolt up witout interference with the new T-case. I suspect the real issue lies in either loose linkage bolts, or interference of the linkage with the shifter openings... IE: body slot or console...
