Ladybug 403 Posted November 11, 2013 OK, I am slipping here! Sorry.... Dessert is covered....We will have dessert one or two nights! The big question! - Does anyone have an interest and/or idea for a potluck dinner? Or would you rather a potluck breakfast?! I've been busy trying to pin down those coordinates so we can get across the Bill Williams River, and spaced on the potluck idea. So lets post up if anyone has any desire for a potluck, and if so, any ideas?! smiles, ladybug
Y0ungGunZj 1 Posted November 11, 2013 I will be heading out to this area for Thanksgiving would anyone who's going mind doing a gps track of the trip in a kml or gpx file so I could go over it before we head out there. Get some last minute ideas on things to do, that mine with the shelf road sounds interesting, especially after all the easy dirt roads. Thanks -James
Scramblin_Jim 1 Posted November 11, 2013 I'm game for either one. Dutch Oven Mt. Man Breakfast can be served for either dinner or breakfast.
Curly 766 Posted November 11, 2013 We are planning a Dutch oven dessert for one night so we will have the oven with us. Don 't know what a Mtn Man dinner/Bfast is, but it sounds interesting. We are up for a group meal, bfast or dinner. If we do bfast, we will need to do it on a morning when we don't have as far to travel because we will want to clean up and socialize around the meal. Jeep4Fun 0 Posted November 11, 2013 Dave and I are new to camp cooking, especially for many. However, we are willing to learn. What can we bring? We do not have a dutch oven. Is there a recipe for something we can cook at home and bring with us? More than happy to join in.
Ladybug 403 Posted November 11, 2013 Lets do a Mtn. man dinner on Friday night at the lake. All we need is the recipe Jim! I'm going to guess potatoes, some kind of meat, and what else....? And do not worry if you are new to this camp cooking....you'll be surprised how it all manages to work out! Tim and Devon, if you don't mind, we can use your dutch oven for a dinner? smiles, ladybug
Curly 766 Posted November 11, 2013 Yes, you can use our Dutch Oven for the dinner. Jim G also has one if we need 2. Do you have a people count? Looks like 11 on the first post. Curly
Ladybug 403 Posted November 11, 2013 Ok, I did pull up my trustworthy boy scout cookbook and go look for a Mtn Man Breakfast, and instead found another recipe...chicken and dumplings. It serves 12-14, and has enough ingredients so that everyone who wants to join in, can contribute something. Just a heads up though, if we are doing a dutch oven potluck, which is the Best!, then we will probably want to have someone start the fire as soon as we reach camp so we can get it started and it can cook while we set up camp....Most dutch oven recipes do take about an hour to cook. So if that's ok with everyone, let me know and I'll start divvying up some ingredients to bring. Chime in! smiles, ladybug
SlyDawg 14 Posted November 12, 2013 Just let me know what I need to bring for the potluck.
Ladybug 403 Posted November 12, 2013 BTW - This Potluck is TOTALLY VOLUNTARY! You do not need to participate if you don't want to. You may have better meals that you are waiting to camp cook! We have never tried a dutch over pot luck, so that may be scary in and of itself! Or you just maybe would rather not potluck. THAT's OK! We will still love you anyways!! So let me know if you want to join us, and I will offer up some food assignments..... Scrambin Jim - we'll do the chicken and dumplings if that's ok as it makes alot. Never made it before, but what the hey?! We've never been on some of these trails before either! Tim - This calls for a 14 inch dutch oven. Let me know what size your oven is. I think mine is a 14 inch, and can easily bring it if need be. smiles, ladybug
