Offroad Passport 45 Posted January 10, 2014 Announcing the Offroad Passport and 4x4 Ham Partnership Offroad Passport and 4x4 Ham have had links to each others' sites for a while, but now we're officially "sister clubs"! We'll be sharing certain content between our sites and hope members of both groups get to know each other at future events. What's changing? We have some exciting trail runs and other events planned with members of both sites invited.Offroad Passport members will soon see a "4x4Ham.com Events" sub-forum in our Trips & Trails section. We'll be pulling all new trip threads from 4x4 Ham's event sub-forums and posting them automatically here.4x4Ham.com members will see a similar new sub-forum on their site which will pull from our Trip & Event Planning/Signup area.That's it, nothing drastic! Do I need to create an account on 4x4Ham.com too? Short answer: Only if you want to sign up for an event from there. Offroad Passport will only be getting a copy of the first post from any new event thread on 4x4 Ham. Each post will have a link back to the original full thread. Any Offroad Passport member wishing to sign up for a 4x4Ham event (or ask questions) will need to create an account on 4x4Ham.com so they can post replies to the original thread. To celebrate our new partnership, we've planned a fun Meet & Eat on February 1, 2014. There'll be an easy trail ride, a few demonstrations/discussions from the staff of both groups and hotdogs! Offroad Passport and 4x4 Ham are both young organizations open to members world-wide and are also both based in Arizona. Members from each group share a common desire to explore the outdoors. Both communities also have a family-friendly atmosphere in common, with not too many rules other than to please show respect for each other and the lands we explore. The folks at 4x4 Ham have a wealth of knowledge to share about communications technology which can be vital on the trail, and they host some fun events too! We hope to give them a chance to get out and explore even more by sharing posts about our upcoming trips & events. The events will be posted to our new sub-forum titled "Events from 4x4Ham.com". By default, everyone can see this new sub-forum & posts. These event posts will also appear on the "New Posts" page and in search results. However, if you are an Advanced or Premium member and do not want to see these, you may opt-out by leaving the group "+Show 4x4 Ham Events". To do so, just login and visit the Group Memberships section of the User Control Panel (here...). The ability to opt-out might be useful for anyone that is already a member of both clubs and doesn't want to see all the 4x4 Ham events over here too. FYI - I wasn't able to setup the ability for our Basic members to opt-out of the cross-posts. This is due to a limitation with our forum software and how we need to configure things for other groups (for access to The Secret Room sub-forum). However, there aren't a ton of events posted on 4x4 Ham every week at this time, so you really shouldn't see many extra posts from this partnership.
