Club Ham frequency

Recommended Posts

Does the club have a deducated Ham frequency for trips? On the last couple of trips we have been using 146.460 simplex to communicate and I got to thinking that it would be nice to have one I can share with family (in case of emergency) and to program into my radio memory.

yes, we almost always use 146.460 for simplex since it's easy to remember and it's valid for multiple southwestern state's band plans. it's also unofficially referred to as "4WD Channel 2" by some folks (something that started on 4WDTrips.net i think).

don't forget that 146.520 is the "US national simplex calling frequency" for 2-meter. in an emergency, if you don't know a local repeater, you can still very likely reach someone if you call out on 146.520 since many folks monitor it when traveling.

Thanks K,

Have you thought about making the info in your post above a sticky in this section and maybe in the trip planning section? I couldn't find it on this site when I looked.
