dzJeepChic 2,435 Posted July 24, 2014 Day Four - Thursday, July 17, 2014: Rubicon Springs to South Lake Tahoe We left Rubicon Springs through the dark dusty forest headed for Cadillac Hill. Got a shot of the graves at the bottom There was no stopping on Cadillac Hill. It was steep as ever but rougher than I'd ever seen it. I managed one photo partway up, and it was bleary so did some artsy edit to it Some more carnage; Steve's YJ experienced an inverted front leaf spring, and another scrape on Bradywgn71's passenger side: Observation Point From there it was mostly an easy mellow drive except for a few minor obstacles on the way out. We occasionally met oncoming rigs carrying the work crew on their way in to repair Cadillac Hill. They planned to pour concrete on parts and a nasty diff. catcher rock was coming out! We got to the air-up spot in time for lunch, and down to South Lake Tahoe by 2:30. Showers and naps were followed by a gathering at the local pizzeria / brewery. Fun times for sure! I'm really proud that we all drove our rigs over 800 miles to get there (except for Maddog who towed), beat the crap out of them on what's undoubtedly the hardest trail I've ever done, and drove over 800 miles back without incidence. That really says a lot about how well prepared everybody was, and it's a huge accomplishment! I'm also very impressed by everybody's great attitude on this trip! The Rubicon is difficult and it's tiring, yet everyone stayed in good cheer and remained helpful towards each other all the way along. You guys are just awesome to wheel with! Fini!
