Heater core help

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. This new jeep I bought happend to need the ol heater core replacement. BUMMER! So I have found most of the info I need and yes I will be replacing the mid-case blend assembly and the air recirc assembly. I also am planning on the evap core. Now I am as "newbie" as it gets, so are these the right parts? And what are your thoughts on dorman products?

Cannot offer much assistance regarding the how to of the job, and am unable to access the links from my phone, but I can say that in general, Dorman products are upper-tier aftermarket components...

sorry i don't have time right now to lookup part numbers, but amazon should tell you if they fit your vehicle (if you input the year/make/model).

it does look like the right stuff, though some people use the Heater Treater approach instead of the factory stuff which might fail again: http://www.heatertreater.net/

also, be sure to examine the collars on the actuators (where the actuator motor attaches to the pivot point. some of mine were cracked when i did it - so even though my doors/pivots were ok, the actuators were spinning around on them. i actually was being cheap that day and put hose clamps around them instead of buying new ones.

I agree with Ksmiths comments regarding the door axle pivots.

IF the Dorman products are like the OEM plastic ones, I would instead recommend the Heater-Treater units, as they are metal, and will not fail as easily as the plastic ones… That is what id did with the failed HVAC doors in my truck…

HTH…;)

I bought my kit from Blen Dor Store. I'm about to tackle this job myself. They're made of aluminum and look to be a quality product. I'll give an update after I get them installed.

Thanks K and Brady. Parts have been ordered. Can't wait to knock this job out and be done with it, then get that lift put on.

I haven't had any trouble with the blend door on my cherokee yet. But I am sure I will down the road. Thanks for the information on HeaterTreater. I had not heard of this company before, but after watching the video on their website. It sounds like a much better fix, than repairing with oem parts. I tried looking up info on Blen Dor Store, but I didn't have a good internet connection. So I couldn't access that info. Thanks again for the info.
