Smurftruck: 1997 Dodge 1500 4x4 Single Cab

Recommended Posts

Huge shout out to Joe at On Point Performance & Offroad. G was going to change the diff fluid in Smurftruck, but was happily surprised that the fluid is still clean after about 15,000 miles, and no metal shavings whatsoever. Great precision gear work; thanks Joe!!

Before heading out to SOCAL and the Anzo Borrega State Park last week, we dropped some coin and G replaced: fuel pump, alternator, starter, serpentine belt and tensioner, and idler pulley. Smurfy is a happy camper, and treated us right on our long trip!

Whelp, turns out a corroded freeze plug was the cause of Smurfy leaking coolant out of the bell housing. He's currently at the shop all taken apart with the engine out! He's getting all new freeze plugs and a chemical flush, plus a few other hard-to-reach tasks, since the engine is out: new distributor cap, rotor, spark plug wires, spark plugs.

Wow that’s corroded. Look forward to hear about everything else getting done.
