dzJeepChic 2,897 Posted October 25, 2015 While he was working on the rear axle stuff, G also fixed a few things he found along the way. The lower control arms were rubbing on the lower control arm mounts on a square edge that he trimmed off: He added an extension to the upper spring cups to retain the springs at full droop: He trimmed this after-market skid plate where the rear drive shaft was rubbing it: Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
dzJeepChic 2,897 Posted October 25, 2015 While he was working on the rear axle, George trimmed the rear fenders and bumper for better clearance when the tires are stuffed. He watched a lot of youtube videos about this and came to the conclusion that it's not very difficult, even though it was a little time consuming just because he was trying to be super careful where he cut: An then came the same trim to the front fenders: It looks pretty good for for free! dzJeepChic 2,897 Posted November 5, 2015 Look what we picked up from Jason at Absolute Offroad today. I can't wait to see them on Ricky Bobby! Front end flex should improve drastically since the the lower control arms won't hit the frame {doh!}. (Sorry for the blurry pics, my camera's a POS all of a sudden). dzJeepChic 2,897 Posted November 15, 2015 Yesterday's trip to China Dam and Fort Tule was our maiden offroad voyage in Ricky Bobby since we've owned him. If Jeeps can be best friends, these two were exactly that, and they've been on many adventures together. They were reunited yesterday. I captioned this picture: "Hey, remember me?" dzJeepChic 2,897 Posted March 5, 2016 We bought a Daystar Hood Vent Kit and George installed it. The installation went smoothly even though it's totally nerve-wracking to drill and cut into a shiny new hood. Daystar instructions are excellent, and include a template showing exactly where to drill and cut holes. The template lines up with the windshield bumpers and footman loop, making it easy to align it properly: Prepare the painted surface prior to drilling/cutting: Too late to turn back now: Steady there! Viola! Two halves of the vent screw together from the bottom: We haven't owned the Jeep long enough to say whether it runs cooler with the hood vent, but we took it wheeling yesterday and ran the A/C all day and the Jeep ran nice and cool.
