We ran the Black Canyon Creek trail a few months back and there is one spot at the top on the Bumblbee end of the trail that was washed out and looked pretty scary. A drop off on one side and and a narrow wash out. I just wonder if anybody has made it through that obstacle recently.

there's a spot where a washout of a shelf road is just inside a very tight turn, cliff wall on one side of you and drop-off on the other... exactly enough room for a bigger Jeep, a full-size might hang a tire off a bit - is this where you're talking about?

if so it has been bad a long time but was very doable last time a couple of us went (several months ago), much easier with a spotter though. it might have gotten worse recently and so i'll make a note to do a quick pre-run before this trip.

i'll be checking that potentially washed out area this weekend again. to clarify, this only affects the optional Sunday part of the run so the Saturday run and camping Saturday night is a GO either way.

meeting info has been added to the first post of this thread and below:

Meet Saturday at 9:30am at the large paved pull out area just off Exit 248 of the I-17 (on the west side). This is the Bumble Bee / Crown King exit. The pull out area should show in the center of this map: https://goo.gl/maps/bJT66Fhf7UD2

Those coming from Phoenix will see the spot without any problem after they exit and cross over the highway. HOWEVER, if you are coming in from the SOUTH-BOUND I-17 (i.e. headed towards Phoenix), note that you actually have to keep going straight like you were going to get back on I-17 to get to the spot.

There are no services near the meeting spot. Be sure to top off and get your ice/etc. before you get there.

the short Sunday optional Black Canyon Creek trail is still a GO, but i have to say that it currently borders on a "difficult" rating. there is no rock crawling but rather several very steep ups & downs with washed out moguls/ditches. there are also some very narrow off-camber areas. either a suspension with excellent articulation OR a locker and willingness to "3-wheel it" would be the main recommendations - and pay close attention to your line!

again, this Sunday Black Canyon Creek trail is purely optional, but i wanted to give everyone a heads up on the current condition.

Please remove jeep4fun off the list. Too close to the due date of our newest grandson. Have fun.

Please count Schip2009 and Melloyello in for this run. Just one vehicle though, as before. :) Will have to see about the optional Sunday trail. Hmm... :) That will be the weekend after my birthday also. So... lots to celebrate! Anniversaries, Birthdays, that's great!
