theksmith 5,778 Posted January 20, 2025 over time i've accumulated quite a few coil spacers trying to account for more and heavier accessories, one of which i noticed was crumbling away. to try and clean all those up and also gain a little up-travel, i replaced the old saggy 4.5" Teraflex coils and over 1.5" of pucks with some shiny new 6" Teraflex rear coils. in the front i removed the doubled-up OEM isolators i was using to level things out and added 1" spacers with a single isolator instead. i also kept my OME 10mm spacers on the right side (front & rear) to help mitigate the "JK lean". all this ended up netting me about 1.25" of lift in the rear but just a bit more rake than i'd like. i'm going to wait a month to see how those new coils settle before i worry about leveling it better. as long as i was crawling around on the garage floor, i decided to pain my Hooker Blackheart muffler with some high temp black this weekend to try and make the big dent it's had for a couple years less noticeable! then touched up my rock sliders, axles, and various other areas with Krylon Satin Black for the millionth time.
theksmith 5,778 Posted January 27, 2025 (edited) spent half of Saturday changing out all 4 joints on my upper rear control arms. a mild PITA even with the small joint Teraflex tool. rear-upper-bushings.mp4 i've been trying to find a "clunk" when the rear hits a speed bump or on washboards. unfortunately these sloppy bushings weren't the culprit after all. they still needed to be changed, but now i have to continue looking for the source of the noise! then Sunday did a little pre-running/exploring... theksmith 5,778 Posted February 12, 2025 never a fun sight... i think i broke a pinion tooth... really nasty "clunk clunk clunk" noise coming out of the rear axle. :( 4

I ask, because as you go lower (higher numeric) in ratio, the gears become more susceptible to breaking, mostly due to pinion sizing, causing reduced tooth contact patch/area....
