wrapped up that evap relocate project yesterday (for now)...

when i installed the relocation bracket i had to remove one of my rock lights that i had stuck to factory crossmember. so i made a quick bracket out of a short piece of aluminum to get the light back there:

3NVCSpOi6s9pd7x4bBQWeqSuqpMvQDcBrBr0-c_8Hbjs2WFxFKAUCKZtmkpPeZVrJ-eGzvQRzCuHbash2nb8GJotUtGpeyb5sSRsqEs4j0YA3j0SyAWHVo_jzTDiU-B04cVLTcPXvxWkMdPrjs5Wa_4hn21Xw4ed4M8tR9PZ70cv2VwTQ-HXFa9FufePt9CuKkzf2kbdHZTo5MNRGf0H-cjgDasErWujmwNSm-eXHOGcl7QnP1bovEglCsMlOfpTgBSxnZcwqywY5Ary_9gITlmCCe3evWT2ulyt2tU8hFlMPlXIOWcX4gi-UdWv2P5kV8RD1h6tgeOG5VntSaK-FGoaYsFUzB8cR_dzWxVChxq_Djq1oPYlLdCHGsZgfcrn-sMLqHx_PE6vwB-aHPI6_zr4MaBC7ZJIZRiFfshY0GFv-5rzt916oF3bVEqdYIAuxI2BRsF86Kh2Utt4gZCXB4-ho_wyjYMoT_TmMHwRLvO4cg_yKnelDM0NFHfH8lVxSTQPzl2an2h16x9e8lxNolAG5SZ9GzF0Hn0Sa4vafMisGel54wO3HN1tMRtG88LfvVBn31jjNSCY0rizZypqIZE52k41hy22xR3XMu-AzUgqyDB7gnMRbYLp873SuHosClS0i9YuNh5GhCieiH9xTGAKCcCMkUwB=s800

i also installed some spring-clip style clamps on each end of the 3 rubber hoses that came with the kit. this supposedly isn't necessary, but i don't want to be chasing an evap leak DTC in a few years once the hoses dry out and stop hugging the plastic lines nice and tight.

i didn't have any constant tension clamps in my box-o-parts that were quite big enough for the larger 2 hoses, so i ordered a new assortment from Amazon and the 20mm ones ended up working well.

Nice engineering dude. Interesting to see how low those canisters hang from the factory.

so i'm planning to get new ones in the next month-ish. after way too much internal back and forth, i've decided to upsize to 35's.

this weekend i installed Teraflex 1.25" wheel spacers in anticipation of running the bigger meats on my stock rims.

here's a before and after on one of the rear wheels:

the instructions mention you may need to grind down the factory studs on some JK's so they don't stick past the spacers. my front were fine, but the rear were all a good 1/16" too long. i found it faster to use a cutoff wheel rather than grind them down from the end.

i'm not really that keen on running spacers, but i've come to think most of the horror stories you hear are probably a result of them not being installed correctly. and besides, i've heard horror stories of people without spacers losing a wheel on the freeway too ;)

do be sure and read the instructions if you install spacers/adapters... besides the factory stud length issue, be aware that you need to remove the retainer clips from the front studs so the spacers sit flat, and that red loctite is recommended. of course torque to the specified values.

here's the new stance, nothing too crazy:

while i was at it, i swapped out all the factory lug nuts with the black Teraflex Spline Drive Lug Nut Kit. i detest those 2-piece factory ones.

i also purchased the "Adjustable Tire Carrier Wheel Spacer Kit" which is just an overpriced single spacer and some extended studs. but i need it to mount the larger tire and factory wheel combo on my Teraflex spare tire carrier.

FYI - before getting the Teraflex spacers, i purchased these Venum spacers from Amazon: http://amzn.to/2BBp7jt

they were half the price of the Teraflex spacers, but they were absolute junk (IMO)! the machining was all over the place, some of the recess holes were so far off-center from the stud hole that i couldn't fit a socket in there. several of the nuts were even threaded/drilled off-center or at an angle.

fortunately i was able to return those for a full refund. sometimes you find a bargain out there, but more often it seems you get exactly what you pay for!

Plus they don't know how to spell Venom correctly.

Dude your jeep is going to look sweet on 35's, I really like the look of oversize tires on new factory wheels

Yea, I agree with Scott. I really dig those rims. The spacers are just right too.

Tryna talk my inlaws into a set for a 2.5 in lift.

thanks guys... i was thinking that with the stock rims and since most of my exterior mods are fairly subtle, it will be sort of an "expo sleeper" rig even with the bigger tires!

continuing with the recent mods...

i got some plastic door sill protectors for Christmas, but we had to return them since they fit like crap. didn't feel like ponying up for the genuine mopar ones right now, so i bought these inexpensive rubberized decal style instead: http://amzn.to/2DKHvZ2

i just needed something to protect the painted metal lip since my passengers can't seem to stop dragging their feet and scratching it!

i also went ahead and pressed the studs into the correct holes for 35's on the Teraflex spare tire mount and installed it. now i need to fab up some new antenna mounts and a different third brake light - i ordered a couple parts for those little projects.
