Zeep 2 Posted August 22, 2019 i actually had seen a youtube video of someone using an orbital air sander for this and so i tried my grinder (i don't have an air sander)... however i learned that a flapper disc was not the right tool for the job when it grabbed and dug in several times! do you know what sort of disc/wheel he uses? It was a couple of years ago. As I recall, it was something in the 80-120 grit range. I think any rotary or orbital type sander would do! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
theksmith 3,673 Posted August 22, 2019 a while back i installed a Teraflex high-angle rzeppa joint on my front factory DS after the OEM one split its boot and ejected most of the grease. my understanding was the Teraflex joint would be OK with my 4" lift height, but i guess every Jeep and use case is a little different since this one died as well. i went ahead and bought a standard double cardan style replacement front shaft this time. i went with Driveshafts Direct on Amazon (they have an Ebay store as well). they were about $150 dollars cheaper than Adam's and $200+ cheaper than JE Reel or Tom Woods for the package i wanted. as far as i can tell, this 1350 JKU front package is just like Adam's (same flange, yoke, 7" splines, etc.). it shipped via Fedex from NV and showed up 2 days after i placed the order - the packaging was done very well. i went with the solid (non-greasable) u-joints version. i will say that i've dealt with Tom Woods, JE Reel, and Carolina Driveline in the past and they've all been excellent. i think if you need anything even slightly custom, Tom Woods customer service can't be beat. however, my JKU setup is pretty cut-and-dried, so i shopped on price this time. i do feel some vibration after about 92MPH now, but i can't detect any at all below that. my pinion angle isn't quite perfect, so perhaps i would be able to eliminate those with an adjustment. however, i rarely go over 85 and i do like my caster where it's sitting, so i doubt i'll change anything. Just a guess. damnit - apparently i'm becoming overly predictable!?! it's a reverse outlet to connect an extension cord to... i always plug my Dometic fridge into a garage 120V outlet while loading it up for a trip and then let the contents get nice and cold on "shore power" instead of draining the battery during that initial cool-down period. i would just run the extension cord in through the back gate, but i thought this little cover made a perfect place for a connector. finished product in use: i temporarily screwed in a piece of aluminum strip to center a hole saw in order to make a larger hole than the existing factory ones. then i was able to add a Journeyman-Pro Power Inlet Port behind the sheet-metal with 4 screws. i glued the rubber plug that came with it to the license plate hole cover and ran its cord up into the cabin through the grommet where the tail-light wires pass through. the little tab was made from aluminum and glued to the cover so i can pull it open easily. 1 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

theksmith 3,673 Posted October 26, 2019 i'm out of free oil changes at the dealership - time to start doing my own! they are pretty darn easy on the 3.6L JK, but to make them even faster and nearly mess-free, i installed a Fumoto valve. i bought part #F106S which has the correct M14-1.5 threads for my 3.6L and is the short-nipple version that includes the safety clip to make double sure that it can't accidentally open. i also bought their hose kit which has a little snap on fitting to securely attach to the stubby nipple.
