February, 27th 2016: Kingman - Serendipity Trip Report

Recommended Posts

February, 27th 2016 we had been running Serendipity, a trail close to Kingman, AZ. Wayne took the lead and we had 7 rigs (Wayne (stockjeep), his buddy Brad, Dennis (Maddogjeeper), Mike (Dead End Joe) and two of his friends and me).

Pretty interesting was, that from 7 jeeps, 6 were different. We had two TJ´s, one LJ, one JK, one CJ, one YJ and one Comanche.

We started from the gas station at DW Ranch exit, east of Kingman:

Pretty fast, we arrived at the gatekeeper. This time it was not really filled up.

Wayne tried it first:

And after some time he decided to be safe and use the winch to make it up, as all the other short/medium wheelbase jeeps did.

Dennis was next and also made it up:

Next was me and I made it up without the help of a winch, because of my longer wheelbase:

Next was Waynes buddy Brad, who also made it up with the winch as safety strap.

Then one of Mikes (Dead End Joe) friends tried it and winched up.

After him Charly in his CJ moved through this obstacle:

And finally Mike went up last:

We continued on the trail and arrived at the 'up and over' obstacle, which is nice and easy. Wayne went up first and showed us, how to do it.

Next was Dennis:

And so we all went further on the trail.

Later one more nice obstacle showed up. Wayne went up on the left side...

...as Dennis also did:

We others went up on the right side:

All of us made it through and we followed the trail...

...with some obstacles here and there.

Then we arrived at the last big obstacle. Wayne and Dennis went through as it would be nothing.

Here a picture of this spot:

I somehow chose a wrong line and had quite some fight to make it through here.

Brad also made it up:

Charly and the other friend of Mike needed some rocks stacked:

Finally we followed an old jeep road up to the top.

We had a short break at the top...

...and enjoyed the vista.

Then we went down on the other side...

Soon we arrived at the pavement.

This was a great trip and thanks to all, who joined. A special thank you to Wayne, who was leading us through without any incident.

Awesome trail report Christian! Serendipity is a lot of fun - and I've never even made it to the top! The Gatekeeper looks nuts now!

Thank you. Indeed, it was a lot of fun. I think, it was the most difficult one, we did in the Kingman area.
