February, 28th 2016: Kingman - Secret Pass Trip Report

Recommended Posts

The day after we have been running Serendipity, we met in Golden Valley, AZ at the Sleeping Princess staging area, to run Secret Pass Canyon.

Wayne was again leading and we had been the same group as the day before, just Brad was not able to make it.

So we had this time six rigs with 6 different jeeps (XJ, TJ, LJ, JK, YJ, CJ).

We went back AZ-68 a short distance and turned right on the trail.

The scenery was wonderful.

We followed the powerlines.

We had a short break, before we headed towards Secret Pass Canyon.

Then the first obstacle, a short waterfall, waited for us:

And everywhere wonderful scenery.

The first big obstacle showed up. Wayne took the bypass with his XJ, while Dennis gave it a try.

Unfortunately it was not his day with this obstacle, so he backed out and went through the bypass. Next was me.

The JK made it through easily.

Mikes (Dead End Joe) friends used also the bypass and Mike went through this obstacle with his TJ.

After this we stopped in a shady spot and had lunch. Then we continued the trail and the canyon widened.

We followed this jeep road down to the end of the trail...

...and had a short break before we turned around and headed back the same way we came in.

On the way up, we had to climb now the obstacles.

Alphabet Soup! That's my favorite trail in the Kingman, AZ area. Isn't the scenery just amazing? I'm curious to know how Astrid liked Secret Pass and Serendipity too? Looks like it was a very fun day, thank you for sharing it with us!

Both trails will not become here favorites :). For some reason, she was ok with Serendipity, but did not like Secret Pass. I guess, this was related to, that my steering did no more work correct at the end of Serendipity and she might have thought, we get again problems on Secret Pass. But fortunately, we could get that steering problem solved in the parking lot of the motel with Waynes tools and help.
