Picture links added to a picture thread

Recommended Posts

Does anyone but me find it annoying that rather than take a few minutes to select and post a few of the better pics taken at an event attended, that instead a link is added?

I don't want to sound rude, but I've simply stopped looking at posted photo links.

Don't get me wrong... I really enjoy looking at the pics and associated story lines, from events and appreciate those who take the time to post up a few words and a handful of what they believe to be the better shots they got from the outing... I'm simply just not going to take the time nor overload my connection band width to;

A- Be required to join your choice of photo hosting sites

B- Slough through your library collection of pics trying to find the correct ones, or worse have to slough through all of the pics you took on that outing...

My two cents: I can post a few pics into the thread but it is really time consuming to post all of them. I use google photos and send a link to just the photo album for that trip. I normally have 200+ photos each trip and can't/won't post all of these in the trip thread. You don't have to sign up for anything to view them. Plus this allows the user to download photos of themselves at high resolution so they can print them if they want.

So sorry it bugs you but I personally like users posting the entire album so I can look for shots of our Jeep and not miss out on seeing only a few chosen highlight photos. I hope people continue sharing the whole photo albums and not just 5 or six photos. I agree that I should be doing a better report and not just posting a link but time is at a minimum right now for me.

It can be a hassle to link photos into a thread, and it is kind of time consuming. I always do it because I like doing it so everybody can see them. I can see ob's point - sometimes it is a hassle to redirect to a different web site, especially if you're asked to create a log in or you have to view advertisements.

I know it's a lot easier to upload photos to facebook and that a lot of people are really good about posting their pics there and not always over here. K and I talked about that one time, and then he found a really cool photo uploader a lot like the one at facebook, that he installed on our new web site. So once we get the new site up and running you have something to look forward to - easier picture sharing. :D

Sara,

I wasn't trying to target anyone with my post. Just voicing a little annoyance at finding nothing more than a link to where a TON of pics were dropped, on yet another site that I have to go to, only to find that the time to wade through all of them is more than I personally want to have to deal with.

For me, that adds nothing to what I feel should be a thread about the adventure, and how good a time everyone was having, with the story told thru adding a few "highlight reel" pics for all to see. Sorta like reading an amature writers magazine article about the event, in which any who want to share thier story, can add to the narrative, as opposed to a simple photo dump for all the pics that everyone took.

Perhaps it's best that I shut up now, and simply continue to ignore the photo dumps... ;):P

i like both manners of sharing the trip, but for different reasons...

if someone has time to do a post with curated photos and maybe even some captions, then please do!! it really helps make this community a place worth visiting.

however, please don't stop posting links to all your photos either. just like Diane, i sometimes enjoy going through them all to find pics of my rig or a pic that maybe only i find interesting for some other reason.

Ob1, I thought you said high speed internet was available in Wickenburg:D

Personally, I love Diane's style of posting pics with a storyline, makes it feel more like you were riding along.

At the same time, I also enjoy sifting through Sarah's photo albums, selfishly looking for pictures of my jeep:rolleyes:

The more pics & links to photos about our communities' adventures, especially how-to write ups, the better in my opinion. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words.
