Bradywgn71 710 Posted January 31, 2018 Going back to his wood panel roots we recently acquired a 1991 Jeep Cherokee Briarwood. She needs some cosmetic help but has had almost $13,000 put into her in the past few years. Runs like a champ. So far we have replaced the tail lights, fixed the rear lift struts, and bought a cup holder. New Steering wheel up next. Then planning on replacing all of the carpet, fixing the seats, fixing the headliner, adding skid plates, adding bumpers, new headlights, etc. This will be a daily driver for Chris and backup money-pit....I mean offroad rig. Bradywgn71 710 Posted March 22, 2018 Still working on basic items. Got a new steering wheel installed. Replaced all the door gaskets, fixed the rear hatch strut, fixed the rear windshield wiper motor, greasing everything. This weekend replacing the alternator. Up next is new carpet, new headliner, seat covers or new to us seats. Future includes bumpers and skid plates but that will be a while. Seems to be running nicely. Bradywgn71 710 Posted August 25, 2019 I realized we haven't updated this in way too long....over the summer of 2018 Chris stripped the entire interior of the XJ. No more stinky and sticky carpet, no more ugly headliner, no more para-cord orange steering wheel, and no more exploding original seats. Here is what he did during the summer of 2018: Headliner Before (with matching visors): He stripped the interior and reinforced the cross bars in the roof. At the same time he ran new wiring for a significant stereo upgrade. New foamboard liner thanks to David K. Installed two sound bars: Installed new seats. We got a good deal on a pair of leather WJ seats. Only minor modifications to the seat brackets was needed. He moved them back several inches as well for more leg room. here is the nasty before picture: How the seats look. He also installed a new center console out of a 1996 XJ. I now have drink holders! He had to change the emergency brake lever system as well as part of this. He changed the overhead console to a newer style as well and covered the visors in the same headliner material:
Bradywgn71 710 Posted August 25, 2019 Upgrades from 2018 continued.... He switched out the XJ ABS Brake Master Cylinder for a WJ braking system. No more ABS. As part of this project we had to also replace the brake lines as these collapsed on themselves and we couldn't get them to bleed properly. Prior to discovering this they locked up on Chris and we overheated the motor Old system: New System: Also replaced the door speakers: Got new LED headlights. Also put LEDs anywhere we could in this rig: New carpet made a world of difference: Before: After:
