Azoutlaw480 0 Posted March 28, 2018 So my wife and I have decided that we need something different in our lives. Its been a few years coming now but we have decided to sell our home, most of our things, quit our jobs, and go on the road for a year or so! We'll be heading out in 2013 4Runner and a Littleguy 5 wide. We're still in the staging process, gathering gear, plotting routes, ect. Almost done though! We hope to be on the road by June. We'll be doing a soft run around Northern AZ to test new gear and overall get our routines down a bit. We're long time campers so we feel like we have a good general idea of basic things/processes. Then we'll head out and start in CA and head North! So we've created a travel blog found here....http://12feetawaytravelblog.wordpress.com. This is were we'll record our the adventure along with thoughts and ups and downs along the way! We have some blogs up now with the planning and motiviation for this trip. We also plan to create a Youtube Channel before we go. Ill be making small updates to this post along the way too! So yea! Follow along if you want and feel free to ask us any questions! Azoutlaw480 0 Posted April 25, 2018 House has been on the market for around 4 days now. So hoping for a quick sale! In other news, we're talking about getting a larger trailer now. We been worried about the space aspect and just want to be comfortable. We'd hate to bail early because of comfort reasons! So we're looking at the Travel Lite F20 Falcons. Under 2500lbs unloaded. Great ground clearance, and a shower and throne! Falcon F20 We also mounted and tried out our ARB2500 for the first time. We love this thing! I cant believe it took so long to get one! theksmith 3,839 Posted April 25, 2018 i like that F20. having a complete bath certainly seems more practical considering the planned length of your adventure. can you trade-in your current trailer or would you have to do a private sale? edit - have to ask, why the F20 instead of the FL-18RB? Azoutlaw480 0 Posted April 26, 2018 We can trade it in through this dealership at a significant hit. We do have a couple leads in regards to selling it ourselves too. We like the F20 the best but are considering the 19BH. F20 1. dual batteries/dual 20lb propane tanks 2. larger fridge/freezer 3. much more ground clearance and larger AT tires 4. larger exterior storage 5. larger water tanks 19BH 1. lighter 2. larger dining area like F20 3. more interior storage on the unused beds 4. more dog lounging space on extra beds So yea, its a toss up. Each have their own positives. The 18RB just feels so cramped when your inside. I do like the separate toilet/shower though. Overall I guess the major factor for us is the ground clearance and the much larger fridge.
Azoutlaw480 0 Posted June 1, 2018 Wow I havent posted on this topic in a while! Plan is still a go! We did have a major set back. As of May 4ths, Nikki (my wife) was in the hospital for a while and had a pretty serious surgery. Shes been on short term disability and Ive been on FMLA helping. All of that was unexpected but only solidify our reasons to go! Thats all behind us now and she is recovering pretty dang good. We now have excellent docs in our reach too. Our house has been for sale for over a month now. Yesterday we finally accepted an offer! We're expected to close June 29th! So this is all about to ramp up real quick! Next on the list is selling what we can in our house, selling Randy the tear drop, and picking up the new trailer! Fingers crossed for a clean inspection and appraisal! Ladybug 429 Posted June 1, 2018 So sorry about your unexpected setback, but glad to hear that all is going well again! Just my 2 cents - go for the fridge and bathroom! Hope your house sale goes well! smiles, ladybug

Azoutlaw480 0 Posted July 2, 2018 Man we are so close now! House has sold and closed. We're all moved now and staying with the inlaws for the time being. We pick up the new trailer this week and will get to full timing out of the trailer and getting used to everything. Now that the house sold so late and the surgery that was unexpected, we now plan to make our first trip out after our Elk hunt in October 10/19-26). We thought long and hard and it didnt make sense to leave sooner since we'd have to come right back for a wedding in Sept and then the Elk hunt in Oct. So we'll continue to work through September and call it quits right before the wedding, then head right into the Elk hunt and scouting. So now, ideally we leave sometime around 10/30 and will prob hit Zion or somewhere in CA first. We want to stay closer now to be back for Thanksgiving and what not. So yea, the late sale and surgery has really shaken things up and pushed us back into holiday territory now, which will be busy. But we're still doing it!
