I was looking for a mount for my phone that does not require drilling. Bonus is if someone is looking for one these could provide an option. I want a place to put my phone where I can see it when out on a trail to follow GPS. I came across two and was wondering if anyone has had any experience good or bad  with either.

This one is  by 67 Designs and looks sturdy:

Then there is one by Rugged Ridge:

I also am wondering about grill inserts. I know that conversation is probably along the lines of oil conversations. 😂 I have read, and can see, that they could inhibit cooling. Anyone have experience or issues with them here in the oven known as Phoenix?

i hear nothing but love for the 67 Designs stuff, it's just a little bulky looking for my tastes so i never tried any of it.

FYI, that rugged ridge one you linked to shows up as like $80 for me, here is the same thing at the normal price of under $40: https://amzn.to/2WMaIij

- or this appears to be the same thing for even less...

Daystar also makes a similar one, i had it for a while and it was sturdy.

i ran across this one recently and thought it was a neat idea (how it loads/unloads the phone).

also not sure if Dan makes any phone stuff or not, but his radio mounts are quality and he's a sponsor on here: https://jeepuniq.com/

and on grill inserts, i've had this Rugged Ridge one for a long time and don't have any overheating issues. i mean the 3.6L runs pretty warm compared to some engines (especially on long climbs) - but as soon as it gets warm enough that it kicks the fan into turbo-hyper-drive, it cools down fast. i know people have had issues with the 3.8L's transmission overheating, so i guess depends on which engine you have.

I have the 67 designs mount in my 2018 JL, but the mount-base design is totally different. They utilize a rail system for the JL to allow for more adjustability.

That said, I'm a fan. The carbon fiber arms are well built, the phone clamp is very solid. I also like the various options to add additional arms/accessories. You can also utilize popular RAM mounts with their system, provided you get the right pieces.

Thanks for the links and the tips @theksmith  and @4x4tographer. I did find varying prices too for the Rugged Ridge which was weird. I am making me a wish list for later in the year and these are on my radar along with a few other things. After I save up some pennies  I am going to do some shopping and modding.

I have the Rugged Ridge. It’s not great - my phone pops out of it randomly.  I had to add a silicone strap to keep it secure.
