Studebaker Transmission Product STP started as "Scientifically Treated Petroleum" by German scientists then Studebaker tied it to it's advertising by calling it "Studebaker Tested Products" which they abandoned when they stopped making cars. Then for years it bounced around after being sold and bought from various companies, then dealt with some legal issues in 1978 & 1995. STP has been owned by Energizer since April 2015.
