gearhead 291 Posted April 14, 2021 (edited) Trail/Area: Fort Tule Night Run (North of Lake Pleasant) Description: Fort Tule is a 8.0 mile easy to moderate trail that starts off Cow Creek Road just north of Lake Pleasant. Our destination is the old Fort Tule home stead. It features an old mining cabin and the grave of the miner’s beloved dog. One noteworthy feature is the fact that the cabin was constructed with tin cans in the walls to save concrete. The trail is generally easy with a few moderate spots (hence the rating). Don't hesitate to ask for a spot if unsure. Requirements: - Driver experience with moderate trails - 4x4 with low range, MT or aggressive AT tires (31"+), skid plates, and recovery points front & rear - Rig must be road-legal with all necessary safety equipment, current registration & insurance, etc. - GMRS or ham radio - Social distancing (COVID - 19) - flashlight and a backup light source Recommendations: - Lift with good flex (2"+) - Over-sized tires (32"+) - Bring water and snacks for you and your passengers. Itinerary: - Meeting location: dirt area on the east side of Castle Hot Springs road, 1/3 mile before the pavement ends Map Here - Meeting time: Friday, June 11, 2021 at 5:45 PM (depart fueled up and aired down no later than 6:00 PM) Additional Info: - HAM frequency 146.460 MHz or GMRS 21 (462.700 MHz) - This run should take 4-5 hours. - This run is limited to 5 rigs total (including trip leader) - Here is a good write up: https://azoffroad.net/tule-creek-homestead - the Tussock Fire restriction of this area has been lifted. Trail Toy 1,048 Posted April 14, 2021 (edited) Since I was thinking about setting up this run (but have 5 others already in mind) and it'll give me a reason to buy some lights for my rig please sign me up! Quick FYI, both @4x4tographer & @Stacey and Scott gave this trail a good review on trailsoffroad.com back in 2019. Edited May 24, 2021 by Trail Toy
4x4tographer 2,004 Posted April 14, 2021 (edited) Super fun trails, I'd bet they'll be pretty awesome at night! Last time I went, Humbug Creek was FLOWING like crazy after some pretty colossal rain. Edited April 14, 2021 by 4x4tographer 3
Stacey and Scott 916 Posted April 15, 2021 Last trip was a night run with about 30 rigs, awesome run but it turned into a complete cluster. Never again with that many rigs . 1

Trail Toy 1,048 Posted April 20, 2021 I was just thinking about the Moon situation for this run, a full or close to full moon would be awesome! Well, we couldn't be further, no moon at all this night so it'll be extra dark... That'll keep things real fun! 1
