Since Ouray and Moab are 2 of our annual trips, makes sense that someday we may run this trail that connects the 2! We started late Wed night (15th) and made a mad dash to Montrose, Co., to pick up the start of the Rimrocker Trail. Hit our first camp site in the early evening of the 16th and spent the next 3 days doing nothing but watching the hounds run and play and go crazy being dogs. It was surprising how fast they adapted to just being free to come and go as they pleased, and it was way cool just to watch them dog. On Sunday the 18th we headed out along the Uncompahgre Plateau following the RR Trail along the Paradox Valley to a spot marked as "Epic Campsite" on Gaia, where we spent the night before moving on again Monday the 19th to Moab. Thanks to warnings from a couple other Jeepers who were running the RR ahead of us, we had time to detour around part of the RR Trail that had just become impassable due to mudslides and flash floods but managed to follow most of the end of the route to Moab. We spent a night in Moab, enjoyed actual showers, I'm sure we wreaked havoc on their water bill , and relaxed for the next days' push to Lava Point in the northern section of Zion National Park. We got to Lava Point Monday evening and stayed the next 4 nights. There were thunder and lightning storms almost every night, and they were awesome...except the dogs didn't quite think so, so there was a lot of "thunder buddy" going on...we actually figured out how to get all 4 of us comfy in the back of the Jeep...not as easy/hard as it might seem... lots of laughter ensued. Friday the 23rd we headed out for the leg home...sad and ready/not ready. Everything from the smell of the air to feel of the breeze was refreshing and revitalizing and we cannot wait to get back out there again.
