Ladybug 470 Posted September 21, 2021 Hello All! Sorry that I missed this thread - I have been out of town for 5 days with my daughter, having a wonderful time in northern AZ, and just now home! If you come this way, I have lots of spots - Burro Creek is always a fav of mine, but not their campground...sites are small and I"ve never met a nice campground host there yet. Alamo Lake has lots of space....And I like having it at Tim's house too! Just let me know if you want further input from me... Oh and btw, I think I can get us back to that one spur in Burro Creek without missing the turn....but then again, those that know me.....LOL (Just joking, I marked it on my gaia map) smiles, ladybug

theksmith 4,019 Posted September 22, 2021 (edited) @Curly, i've been in that slot canyon you can drive through... i'm remembering it being on the north-west side of the lake and wouldn't that be more of an overnighter? Alamo in general is in the middle of nowhere and a long boring dusty drive to get to from any direction that i know of. I'm in Phx till Thursday, can't check my info till then, but I think the slot canyon is on the N.E. side. @Ladybug may have that info. I've done Yuma to Phx for day runs w/o staying overnight. Ladybug 470 Posted September 22, 2021 The slot canyon is on the north side of the lake; there is a mud canyon for a short hike on the south side of the lake. There is a paved road to access the south side of Alamo Lake, and then dirt on all trails. Something to keep in mind that this has become a hot OHV area, lots of sidebys out here now. But lots of space as well! So we can find a place to have our party out there. I did think that Perry Mesa would be awesome too! - lots of space there as well, but that one might be weather dependent...it might to cold, and it might be muddy going back on Bloody Basin Road....But it would be worth considering as well, imho. We can also find a spot out by Hope AZ, which would be maybe easier access for east valley folks to be able to drive i-10 most of the way out. But then I also love the Burro Creek area! sigh....so many choices! smiles, ladybug

There are petroglyphs out there on Perry Mason.

Ladybug 470 Posted September 27, 2021 Another thought for a location might be up behind Cleator.....There's an old flat mine site out there if I remember right....and its a lower elevation than Perry Mesa, and a central location. smiles, ladybug
