Electronic sway bar motor

Recommended Posts

Working on a friend's Rubicon and noticed the sway bar motor was pretty loose and moved around. The motor still works and disingauges fine but not to sure on how the motor is mounted. Checked my rig and the motor was pretty solid.

If anyone with a Rubicon could check the movement of their motor I would be appreciative. Thanks

other than the 2 bushings that hold the bar halves themselves on to the bottom of the frame, the "motor" portion is just held in place with a rubber hanger much like an exhaust mount. that hanger keeps it from rotating, but it does have some minor give. however, there really shouldn't be any left-right movement of the motor on the bar if i remember correctly.

these instructions about the smartbar motor rotate/flip mod has lots of photos that should give you an idea of how everything is mounted in there, not to mention it's a great cheap mod: https://www.modernjeeperforum.com/index.php?threads/sway-bar-ground-clearance-kit.5510/
