In the off chance we get stopped just be courteous and you should be fine.  Usually Robin is the Ranger I see out there and I know her and she's cool.

The permit itself says it must be signed and in my possession. My phone is a note comes with a pen stylus That allowed me to sign it. Since my phone has it as long as I don't forget the phone and can pull it up I meet the requirement on the permit itself. The site itself just says must be on hand but says nothing of a paper form. I mean as long as I can present it, it is on hand. I think I fall within the requirements. I mean it's almost 2023 who still kills trees?

I can pull it up without internet access.. I'll give it a try.

Sorry Mick, this was you one and only chance.

Of course I will include you next time.  Do you want me to PM you or do you keep a close eye on the board?

And yeah, I hate mud.  I do most of the wrenching on my rig so mud means crap falling on me when I am under it.  It doesn't matter how much you power wash it, the darn dirt finds a way into your eyes!

I do watch the site, but would appreciate a heads up.
Re. mud:

If I take the rig to the self service car wash the owner gets “downright ugly” and if I wash it down my driveway into the gutter the neighbors walk by and “stare at it.” 🥴

I hear ya!  I hate the mud too.  I'll avoid the puddles where possible today.

I'll PM you next time I post up a run.   I might do a quick BULLDOG  one on the 17th or 18th and then early January perhaps a classic 'box canyon' run.

Only got one BULLDOG run in October and  no plans for November.  A few folks said they where interested so here we go!  So assuming I don't break down on the Black Friday Log Corral run we are doing Bulldog!  (If I do break down I will bring the ZR2 instead)

This run is close to the Valley.  The first part is a really fun and scenic.  If we head off to Wolverine it's a bit more of a shelf road trail but the scenery is still very nice.

This time we will head south on when we get to  FR10 and exit at Wolverine.   If you want to go North on Fr10 and exit Bush that okay too, come hang with us for the first part of the trip.  It's a short quick run from the 3554/10 intersection to the Bush exit

A permit is required, it's $6, lasts 6 months and is specific to the Bulldog Canyon area:  https://www.recreation.gov/vehiclepermits/3332401

  • Technical Rating: 2-3 (easy) if you exit off of Bush, I'd give it a 4 going South to Wolverine.   There is one tipsy spot going downhill that can be a little exciting otherwise I would rate it a 3 max.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A stock clearance 4x4 with a low range transfer case option, suitable front OR rear recovery point (trailer hitch is fine), stock tires.   (I've done this trail in a stock ZR2 out to Wolverine)
  • Rigs & drivers must meet all the typical state/federal legal requirements for on-highway vehicles (license, insurance, registration, seat belts, lights, etc.)
  • $6 permit per vehicle.  Each OPERATOR must have a permit, families can share a permit
  • This is a great trail for people with less experience.
  • Everyone must stay on the designated trails

Radios:  Not required.   Ham on 462.700, CB or FRS all work for me.   Trail finding is easy and we'll keep you in our mirrors.  I have spare radios too.

Itinerary:

Meet up time will be 10:00 am at fr3554 trail head off of Usery Pass.   We'll air down (optional) and chat a bit.

We'll stop at least twice to enjoy the view and chat.  I'll make some cheese crisps for anyone interested in a snack when we stop for lunch.

The trail is about 7 or 8 miles long to Bush.  Wolverine is another 10 or so miles and takes another 45 or so minutes (we will stop less on 10).

Bring the kids, the pets, Grandma.

Bring something for lunch.  We'll stop for about an hour for lunch under the shade of some mesquite or  palo verde trees.

We’re on our way, probably going to be about 10 minutes late if that’s not an issue, got caught up in some traffic in North Peoria that slowed us down
