4x4tographer 2,847 Posted March 22 Some photos from our weekend adventure through the Table Mesa rec area on Crapshoot, led by @SonoranWanderer! My personal first time on this trail - it was fun! The 2 obstacles on the trail were interesting and made you pause to think for a minute. The views were very nice with some scenic overlooks and plenty of wildflowers waiting to burst into color. The desert is extremely green right now. We had an interesting mix of vehicles with us, a 50/50 blend of current and "vintage". 😁 3 JLs, a YJ, an XJ, and a sweet Ramcharger.
SonoranWanderer 446 Posted March 28 The run went off without much of any hitch and we even added a little side adventure ("9954a" I think) up a hill to one of the higher high voltage power towers along 9954. Our only negative was the last half mile along the gun range where 9954 meets Table Mesa Road. You may have already seen my commentary and position on using an alternative exit, Windmill Trail (TrailsOffroad) that connects the north end of 9954 to the Table Mesa Exit on I-17. Here are links to my full GPS recordings of Crapshoot with the alternate exit option: Gaia: https://www.gaiagps.com/map/?loc=14.6/-112.1577/33.9716&pubLink=6fZG7om7ClvnmcVQzTfmiIv8&folderId=5b3b982b-fad1-45c5-9e92-b9c5f62443c9 Google Maps: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1YlOCgPO_RHo2tHmNEdUUleY1o8k8GY8&usp=sharing @4x4tographer as usual nails the photography. I put together a video of the first half of the run:

I put together a video of the first half of the run: in the first climb at around the 1:00 minute mark in your video, where did you have the camera placed? are you using a gopro? It is a GoPro 10 placed on the front bumper. Look just right (viewer's right) of the winch (between the winch and the recovery hook) in this shot. All of the time lapse is shot with that camera. theksmith 4,041 Posted March 28 Just now, SonoranWanderer said: It is a GoPro 10 placed on the front bumper. If feels lower because of the rock height (2.5 - 3ft) and slope (not quite straight up) and the lack of vehicle perspective. The camera is below the top of the rock and comes within less than a foot of the rock before the front tire starts to climb. The slight fish eye effect of the lens up close also adds to the deception I think.
Bradywgn71 746 Posted March 28 Had a fun day for sure and got some dirt on our new tires. XJ did well on them and we enjoyed meeting some new people! Here is the link to my photos.
