Saturday 1/4/2025 | Belmont Mine & Vulture Mountains | Day Trip | 4x4 Easy

Join me on a day trip for an interesting fun loop from Wickenburg down to the Belmont mine that (you can enter the mine and the site has it some of the best views around.  Then east through the Vulture Mountains across multiple washes and climbed to the impressive Vulture Arch for lunch.  We finally end up in wide Hassayampa riverbed near Morristown at I-60. (Just short hop to the 303.)

 

We will start with breakfast at the Horseshoe Café in old downtown Wickenburg

 

MEET UP (Saturday 01/04/2025 @ 8:30AM)

Where     Horseshoe Café in Wickenburg AZ ( 207 East Wickenburg Way)

(There is a parking lot behind it and across the street)

  • We’ll have breakfast at the fun Café and start the ride  at 9:30 AM
  • Please be there by 9:15 if you’re not having breakfast
  • Arrive with a full tank of gas  

 

COMMS

GMRS Channel 20 (462.675 mhz).     I’ll have some loaner handhelds if you don’t do GMRS

 

TRAIL INFORMATION

  • Difficulty Rating: Easy
  • Trail Condition Concerns: A climb up to the vulture arch and some possible small washouts, nothing serious. Good for newbies, but still fun for “old hands.”
  • This is an all-day adventure. We will likely be off the trail by three in the afternoon, however that is not a guarantee. .

  

REQUIREMENTS

 

DRIVER REQUIREMENTS

  • Trip is suitable to all experience levels
  • Willingness to commit to significant seat time with us  
  • A cool head and a positive attitude

 

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS: Trip is suitable to any high-clearance 4x4

  • All vehicles are required to meet state legal requirements, (i.e.: current registration and insurance) & have functional seat-belts for each occupant
  • Must have suitable recovery points front and rear
  • Must have quality, durable, aggressive all-terrain or mud-terrain tires
  • Must have an operational GMRS radio or Ham Radio capable of GMRS frequencies
  • Must have a full-size spare tire

 

VEHICLE RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Sway bar disconnects, winch, aftermarket differential covers, rock sliders, skid plate protection of important components, high-clearance metal bumpers, 33"+ tires
  • The ability to air down your tires and air them up at the end of the trail will contribute to your comfort and enjoyment of the trail. 

 

KEY CONSIDERATIONS

  • This is an all-day adventure, please factor that into your planning
  • Bring a trail lunch 
  • MORE WATER THAN YOU NEED
  • Camping chair
  • Sunscreen
  • Camera
  • Appropriate clothing for the environment
  • Recovery gear
  • First Aid Kit
  • Basic repair tools

I’m interested to join this event. I drive 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 31” terrain tires 2” lift but no skid plate and no lockers. I am deaf and can’t speak. I need to follow the leader or in the middle of the group for safety reasons. Let me know if it is doable for me. Thanks. David

Dave, I think that hearing issues can be handled, the 31” tires could be a problem no a couple of the bumpy climbs and a decent off of Vulture Arch. 

Why dont you text me at 623-432-2895 and I can tell you more about the ride conditions and you can tell me about you off road experience and equipment.

No this is a day run, but I may bring ice cream.  Besides after the Horseshoe you may be full.
