Mick Bowers 458 Posted December 7, 2025 (edited) This Saturday, December 6th seven rigs and 11 folks ran the breakfast run from Wickenburg to Belmont mine and then back through the Vulture Mountains to the Hassaympa river basin near Gates Road. The wait staff at the Horseshoe Cafe were fast and delightful. It was It was a perfect fall day and the ride was completed with absolutely no drama. There were several new people and they all seem to enjoy the ride too. All in all a really happy group. The trail had eroded some since last year when we did it, but everyone got through it, including a Subaru that surprised us all. ’Way to go Claudio!” We had an interesting make up of vehicles that included some older Jeeps, a Subaru, a beautifully equipped overland Chevy tuck, fully modified JL‘s, Toyota, Land Cruiser and the star of the ride; Liz’s shiny new Rubicon. It’s a spectacular new color! We couldn’t decide what to call it, but I’ll post a picture. As usual we ended up at the Vulture Arch for the terrific views while munching on the traditional ice cream. It's my vehicle, it did great to be honest, at no point did I feel it was going to leave me stranded nor did I run out of ground clearance anywhere, some scrapes on the skid plates but nothing crazy. The traction control system did great on the hills, lots of wheel spinning though and you have to commit to it for it to really kick in if you're stuck or on a steep hill, basically give it the beans. My concern at times was the approach angle specifically on ditches, slow and steady and just a bit of nose scrapping did the job. The vehicle is lifted, has slightly bigger tires than stock, skid plates under the engine, transmission, differential and a hitch for added protection, if it was stock I wouldn't even dream of doing this stuff, I'm not that crazy 🤣 1 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Was wondering if it was lifted or not. Was curious as I bought a 2024 Forester Wilderness Edition and want to take it out to play.
