Recommended Posts

Paul, where did you get your screen from?

From mp3car.com. Here's the link:

http://store.mp3car.com/Lilliput_10_1_Inch_USB_Touch_Screen_UM_1010_C_T_p/mon-104.htm

Pros:

Relatively inexpensive

Big screen (10.1")

Only one connection (USB)

Cons:

It won't display video

Only 1 display resolution

Not sunlight readable

I finally pulled the trigger and replaced my ratty 3.21 gears with new 4.56 gears. Just driving around town there is a great difference in the way it gets up to speed. I can't wait to see the difference out on the trail. I also put on a bullet proof rear diff cover since I was there already anyways. Next week are the new shoes. 33" BFG MTR KM2's. will post picks when they are on.:)

Nice Rob.

I desparately need to get mine done too. I keep putting it off thinking that I'll eventually get Rubicon axles and regear at that time. But with 2 kids in college I'm beginning to think that I'll never get the money to do that, so maybe I should just regear what I have.

Where did you get your gears done (are you happy with their work), and if you don't mind saying, how much was it?

I wanted to do that too but the axles have gone up in price so much that it just wasn't in my price range anymore. I got my gears done at Desert Rat in Mesa and they did a great job with a great price. Sean had quoted me $1308 for the gears with install. I guess that was with a wrong quote from the supplier. The supplier quoted a price for 4.88 gears and not the 4.56's that I wanted. The 4.56's I guess are about another $100 an axle. Sean held him to that price and honored his quote to me. I also had him throw in the bullet proof rear diff cover and a set of smitty built deflators. The total price came to $1386 out the door. I am very pleased and would recommend them anytime. That also includes a check and fluid change at 500 miles.

Today George changed the oil, and while he was at it he fixed an oil leak. At first he thought that there was a leak at the rear main seal, but on closer inspection it was coming from the oil filter housing.

He'd read a thread on NAXJA that said you could buy an Oil Filter O-Ring kit for this, so he went to O' Rielly's to get it. Turned out that the only O-Ring out of the kit that worked was the big one, and George had to pillage through his O-Ring Spare Collection for the other small ones involved.

Here's the unit reinstalled with a new oil filter. Hope it doesn't leak anymore!

This is right after Aircraft Paint stripper. That stuff is like refined nuclear waste from Krypton or something cause its ruthless on the paint and my flesh.
